What we do
- The Connexions Service is the government's support service for 13 to 19 year olds (up to 25 years for people with learning disabilities).
- Under Connexions, each young person can have a Personal Adviser who will offer advice and help on areas including further education, getting a job, training, transport, housing and benefits.
- Personal advisers are based in a number of places, including Connexions Centres and some schools, colleges and community centres.
How to refer
Young people can self refer. Personal advisers usually arrange to see young people during term time in school. Parents and carers can meet the Personal Adviser for example at school parents' evenings and at annual reviews if appropriate. The centres listed are normaly open Monday to Friday from 9.30am till 5.00pm. Please ring the service for more details.
Cost
There is no cost for the service.
More info
The young person will meet their Personal Adviser at the Year 9 prior to the transition review. Connexions will keep in touch at regular intervals with the young person until he or she has left education and moved onto employment/training or other life plans.
